This is great. This series is really good. I tried working on the practical what-to-do side, but I think I had a lot more to say about the maddness and desperation that goes with having a hyper brain. You say a lot about things I’ve intuited… but you’ve gone much further than I could. It’s really strange reading this. A lot of organizational type tips just don’t work for me, but this advice is tailor made for my brain/personality.

Wow.

(Just got done emphasizing some accumulated value today… gotta keep leveraging it! Toot toot!)

Hi Lispy,

I’m very glad it’s useful. These articles are here in great part thanks to you, I wouldn’t have had the idea of writing them without reading your posts first. I’ve built up these tricks over many years, and I didn’t think that it might be useful to put together a set of techniques for this kind of mind before I saw the great response to your posts.

I guess that’s what the web is all about :-)

facebook support group for hyperbrains? But the catch-22 is hyperbrains tend to or want to be wolves and hence are totally against facebook groups. Am I alone in wanting to be left alone, should we form a support group of some sort ?

great article by the way, I enjoyed the “closed task” advice the most in this series. please keep them coming, save the hypers!

Just read your art while sipping my coffee. Liked it. I see that comments like it too.

Concerning “focus on the past achievements” what can you do about Gracian’s wisdom that people value you on what they hope of you and not what you have done for them? I think that you must add to your list a recipe for “maintaining hope” of more you will give while cashing in on projects “ended and finished”. Something like explicit communication of what the project will produce if maintained in the future? New avenues promissigly opened by the accomplishment of this step?…

This is my favorite hyperbrain post so far. I like the whole idea of building value. I seem to build a lot of little piles of value instead of a big mountain. I wish I could stay focused enough to try to build something significant overall instead of being all over the place.

Thank you so much for writing these articles. When I was very young I was diagnosed with ADHD and while I have always had some trouble fitting in, I have found my own ways to be successful (which are in some ways very similar to yours).

Lispy and Daniel: Thank you so much, the both of you, for bringing this up at Hacker News. I really thought that no one worked quite like I do and that my difficulties were mine alone. Knowing that there are others (and so many!) like me and, especially, hearing what’s made their lives easier is a huge help. I was recently explaining to my friend about being depressed and, after talking to me for a while, he said, “Dude. You’re not depressed… you’re bored. I’m going to send you these blog posts from that tread on HN.”

I anxiously await further parts. Thanks so much!

You have helped me in discovering myself. Now I understand my strength and weaknesses and ways to use my strength and work around my weaknesses.

Senthil, if you even create a support group (not at facebook please) leave a comment here with a link.

I can’t wait for the next episode.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Hi Daniel,

Thank you deeply for your HYPERBRAIN SERIES!!

I learned over a couple years ago when I was in my mid-forties I have ADHD and felt a little less baffled about myself at that point. Myself, my wonderful customers, (who by all rights should have run by now), and my loved ones still constantly feel the big negative repercussions of my differences, though. I desperately try not to give up with my “sometimes amazing but terribly unreliable” brain. Your Hyperbrain series has blown me away with your declarations, tactics and emotional needs outlined. I have never seen anything like these in all my obsessive attention deficit research. I am thrilled and indebted that you wrote each one of them. THANKS!

PS: Can we by chance see HYPERBRAIN 5 this year? Otherwise, just an update would be highly welcome.
